Texting and Driving is the New Drinking and Driving
The Temptation to Text
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that in 2008 roughly 6,000 fatalities and more than half a million injuries resulted from accidents caused by distracted drivers. While all of those fatalities and injuries weren’t caused by drivers who were texting, you can be sure that texting was one of the biggest distractions. By texting and driving you might even be breaking the law in your state.
The Dangers of Texting
One of the reasons that texting and driving is just as bad as drinking and driving is that whenever you take your eyes off of the road you’re significantly impairing your ability to quickly react to oncoming danger. If you’re concentrating on stringing sentences together, you aren’t fully focused on driving.
If you’ve ever been injured in an auto accident by a driver who was texting and driving, it’s recommended that you seek the help of a qualified and licensed auto accident attorney. Here at the law offices of David S. Kohm, we can help guide you through all of the uncertainties that lay ahead.
